BPO park in Coega IDZ to open in March 2010
The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) stated on Tuesday that the 1500-seat business process outsourcing (BPO) park, costing R173-million would be operational by March 2010 in Zone 4 of the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ), just outside Port Elizabeth.
To date 600 jobs have been created in the construction of the business park and the CDC’s Human Capital Solutions (HCS) unit has already undertaken the responsibility to train new call centre operators that could potentially be employed in a BPO business in the park. It has thus far trained 285 call centre agents and further training in anticipation of the full BPO uptake is planned in early 2010.
The CDC is however still looking for tenants to occupy the business park.
