Nxuba Municipality

The Nxuba Municipality is located in the far west of the Amathole District Municipality, with the Nkonkobe Municipality to its east. The municipality includes the two towns of Adelaide and Bedford, both of which nestle in the foothills of the majestic Winterberg Mountain range.

Vision
Nxuba Municipality, a catalyst for sustainable development for all.

Main industries and business sectors
The main economic activities are agriculture and trade. The government is also a major employer, providing jobs for a large number of the working labour force.

The agricultural activity is dominated by the cattle and sheep-rearing industry, which is well recognised. There are also citrus packhouses, which not only supply the local market but also export the products.

Main resources and attractions
There are many attractions in the Nxuba Municipality that will keep any tourist busy and thoroughly satisfied. There are 4x4 trails, mountain biking routes, game viewing, bass and trout fishing as well as hiking trails.

The countryside’s natural wealth will also keep any birding and flower enthusiasts in awe and appreciation.

Lastly, the municipal area was the scene of many historically significant events and the Heritage Museum in Adelaide is one such place, where this history is documented and illustrated.

The Bedford Rose Garden Festival is a must for any gardening enthusiast. This is held annually towards the end of October and, while the whole town enthusiastically participates, there are several gardens usually open to viewings by the public as well as talks by well-known gardeners.
